Made to last
Sustainable Home Decor, Handcrafted in South Africa
The most sustainable home decor is the kind you keep. Our pieces are handcrafted from natural and recycled fibres, designed with care and made to last for years, not seasons, while creating opportunities for artisans and makers.
What makes our homeware more sustainable
Natural fibres. Our rugs are available in mohair or wool, and our throws are made from 100% South African mohair. These are renewable, durable fibres that age well.
Recycled materials. Selected cushion covers, such as the Kuba cushion, are jacquard woven from 100% recycled cotton.
Craft and community. The Ninevites exists to preserve cultural heritage through design and to create economic and creative opportunities for artists, artisans and makers. Buying handcrafted supports that work directly.
Built to last. Timeless, original designs and quality construction mean fewer replacements and less waste.

Frequently asked questions
Is mohair a sustainable fibre?
Mohair is a natural, renewable animal fibre that is durable and long lasting, so a well made mohair rug or throw can be used for many years.
How do I make my home decor last longer?
Choose natural fibres, rotate rugs regularly, follow care instructions and invest in timeless designs rather than trend pieces.
Do you offer custom pieces?
